Dishwasher Troubleshooting: Dishwasher is not draining

Why is my dishwasher not draining?

The most common reason for a dishwasher to stop draining is because it has food debris clogged in the filter or the water pump. This is why it is important to provide regular maintenance to your dishwasher and clean it properly.

What can I do if my dishwasher is not draining?

If your dishwasher is clogged and not draining, check the filter and pump (located at the bottom of the dishwasher).

First, remove the filter. Review your owner's manual to learn how to do this.

Remove any debris and objects that are trapped in the filter. Clean it with soap and a soft brush under running water.

Before reinstalling the filter, remove the pump cover by following the instructions in your owner's manual. Check the pump and remove any debris and standing water you find with a sponge. Use caution as some debris may be sharp.

Reinstall the pump cover and filter.

What else can I do to unclog my dishwasher?
