Cooktops 101: Quick Start Guide to your Bosch cooktop
Before you start cooking delicious meals, here are some tips to make sure your cooktop is ready to be your kitchen partner.
1. Gas Cooktops: Make sure the grates and burner caps are positioned properly before you turn on the burner. Wipe the cooktop with a clean damp sponge and dry.
2. Induction and Electric Cooktops: Simply touch the On/Off button to get started.
Choosing the right cookware for your cooktop
For the best results, it's important that you use the right cookware. Read our tips on how to select the proper pots and pans for your cooktop so you can prepare delicious meals with ease.
1. Pan bottom diameter
The flame should be the same size as the bottom of the pan or smaller.
Do not use small pans with high flame settings as the flames can lick up the sides of the pan.
Oversize pans that span two burners are placed front to back, not side to side.
For the best cooking results, large pans should not extend over the sides of the grates.
2. Proper Fitting Lid
A well-fitting lid helps shorten the cooking time
For best cooking results, always use a lid when boiling water.
Choosing the right cookware for your induction cooktop
With an induction cooktop, you should only use pans of:
- Enamelled Steel
- Cast Iron
- Special Stainless Steel Utensils for induction cooking.
An easy method to check if your pots and pans are suitable for the cooktop is to place a magnet at the bottom. If the magnet attaches, then your pan should be compatible.
You should not use cookware made of:
- Thin normal steel
- Glass
- Clay
- Copper
- Aluminum
