How to Clean and Descale Your Countertop Espresso Machine

A notice will show on your display when your appliance needs to be cleaned and descaled.

Select the appropriate program to maintain your espresso machine:

• Cleaning Program
• Descaling Program
• Calc’n Clean: Runs both cleaning and descaling programs to reduce maintenance time.

For the Calc’n Clean Program:

1. Empty the drip tray and coffee grounds container and re-insert. Learn how to clean and empty your drip tray and coffee grounds container here. If you are using a water filter, remove this now.

2. If applicable, empty the milk container and re-attach.

3. Insert the cleaning tablet at the slot inside the coffee bean container.

4. Fill the water tank to the marked level with warm water. Add the descaling tablet into the water tank and fully dissolve before proceeding with the program.

5. Place a 33 oz. container under the dispenser to collect the descaling rinse residue. Empty the container after the descaling program is completed.

6. Rinse and refill the water tank.

7. Place the 33 oz. container under the dispenser again to collect the cleaning rinse residue. Empty the container after the cleaning program is completed.

For best results, we also recommend cleaning your brewing unit and milk container after the cleaning and descaling programs are ran.

For the Calc’n Clean Program:

1. Empty the drip tray and coffee grounds container and re-insert. Learn how to clean and empty your drip tray and coffee grounds container here. If you are using a water filter, remove this now.

2. Dissolve a descaling tablet in 17 oz. of warm water and pour the mixture into the empty water tank.

3. Place a 34 oz. container under the dispenser and begin the descaling process using your display.

4. Rinse and refill your water tank. Then, reattach the water tank to the appliance.

5. Empty the drip tray and reinsert.

6. Insert one cleaning tablet into the ground coffee compartment.

7. Replace the 34 oz. container under the dispenser to collect the cleaning water.

8. Empty the drip tray one last time and reinsert. Your appliance is now ready to brew!

The Calc’n Clean or Water Droplet button will light up on your display when it is time to run the cleaning and descaling program.

Select the appropriate program to maintain your machine:

For the Calc’n Clean Program:

1. Press the Calc’n Clean button on your display for 5 seconds, until it lights up.

2. Open the front door to empty the drip tray and coffee grounds container and reinsert. Learn how to clean and empty your drip tray and coffee grounds container here.

3. Then, with the door still open, access your brewing unit to insert the cleaning tablet. Place the tablet into the compartment on the right side of the brewing unit, behind the red casing.

4. Reinsert the brewing unit, drip tray, and coffee grounds container and close the door.

5. Remove the water tank and inserted water filter if applicable. Fill the tank to the mark with warm water and place a descaling tablet in the water.

6. Once the descaling tablet has dissolved completely, reinsert the water tank.

7. Place a 34 oz. container under the dispenser.

8. Press the Calc’n Clean button again to continue the cleaning and descaling program.

9. Once the button lights up again, empty the 34 oz. container and drip tray.

10. Replace your drip tray and coffee grounds container and close the door.

11. Rinse the water tank and reinsert the water filter if applicable. Fill the water tank to the Max. mark.

12. Replace the 34 oz. container under the dispenser and press the Calc’n Clean button again.

13. Empty the 34 oz. container, coffee grounds container, and drip tray one last time.

14. Replace your drip tray and coffee grounds container and close the door. Your appliance is now ready to brew!
