Cooktop Won’t Turn On

If your Bosch electric cooktop won’t turn on, the issue might be related to the power supply or a setting that’s preventing it from functioning. Follow these steps to troubleshoot:

1. Check the power supply

Ensure the cooktop is securely plugged into a working outlet. Test the outlet with another device to confirm it’s functioning. If the outlet is fine, check your home’s circuit breaker to ensure the circuit hasn’t tripped. Reset it if needed.

2. Deactivate the child lock

Some Bosch electric cooktops include a child lock feature that disables operation. Locate the key or padlock icon on the control panel and hold it for 3–5 seconds to deactivate the lock.

3. Inspect the control panel for error codes

Check your control panel for error codes. If an error code is displayed, check out our list of error codes or contact Bosch Customer Support at 1-800-944-2904.

Cooktop Overheating

If your Bosch electric cooktop overheats, it may automatically shut off to protect itself. Overheating is often caused by prolonged use on high settings or blocked ventilation.

1. Lower the heat settings

Cooking at maximum power for extended periods can cause overheating. Use medium or low settings, especially for recipes that don’t require high heat, to avoid overworking the cooktop.

2. Ensure proper ventilation

Blocked airflow around the cooktop can lead to overheating. Make sure the area surrounding the appliance is clear of obstructions to allow for proper cooling.

3. Let the cooktop cool before restarting

If the cooktop shuts off due to overheating, wait until it has cooled completely before using it again. If the cooktop doesn’t restart or continues to shut off, check for error codes on the control panel. If an error code is displayed, check out our list of error codes or contact Bosch Customer Support at 1-800-944-2904.
