Homemade Rolls

I invited my mother and grandmother over for tea a couple of weeks ago – partly because I adore them and hadn’t seen them in a while, and partly because I couldn’t wait to put my Bosch Series 8 oven’s Assist function to the test!

While I could have baked a cake or perhaps made meringues, what I really wanted to try was making fresh rolls from scratch – well, sort of. I didn’t have much time to make the dough by myself… I bought that from the store beforehand. After all, why put in the effort when you can take a shortcut and enjoy the same quality results? That’s what cooking with the Bosch Series 8 oven has taught me over the last few months!

Here’s the recipe that I followed…

What You Need:

- Ready-made Dough
- Baking Sheets
- Butter
- Jam of your choice


1. Considering the fact that the making of the dough is the most time-consuming, difficult aspect of making rolls, the only thing that I really had to do was roll the dough into small balls and placed them onto a baking sheet in an appropriately-sized baking tray.
2. After that, I left the dough balls to rest for approximately 30 minutes.
3. Finally, I made use of the Assist function of my Bosch oven, selected ‘rolls’, and simply placed the baking tray inside. No need to worry about setting temperature or baking time – the oven did that all for me.

After the rolls were in the oven, I found myself constantly peeking to see how nicely they were rising. The last time I attempted to make rolls, they didn’t exactly rise at all – so it was certainly a satisfying feast for the eyes!

A couple of minutes later, they were done. Perfectly. I couldn’t believe that I’d made these warm, crisp little masterpieces (technically) all by myself. By the time mom and granny arrived, I had had time to clean and set up the dining room table with the teapot, cups, saucers, biscuits and my gorgeous rolls. We enjoyed them with a slither of butter and a few generous dollops of jam, and it was safe to say that they tasted just as glorious as they looked. Perfectly crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside.
