Bosch Home Appliance customers invited to check gas appliances as part of repair action campaign

Johannesburg, South Africa – The stalwart Home Appliance company, BSH has issued a release stating that they are expanding its safety campaign as they are committed to the highest safety and quality standards of their appliances. BSH published a number of advertisements in daily newspapers during April this year with the purpose of inviting customers to connect with them as some free-standing gas stoves have been identified with a gas connector fault.

“Even though we have addressed the issue earlier this year we would like to encourage the media in assisting us to get the message out to our customers as it is important to us that we proactively provide support and on-site repairs where needed,” says Enrico Hoffman, Managing Director of BSH South Africa.

BSH requests that all owners of the following product number manufactured between August 2006 and October 2011 to check whether their appliance is affected by the safety campaign: HSV745055Z, HSV42C020Z, HSG223055Z, HSG222020Z, HGV745355Z, HGV524120Z, HGG223225Z, HGG222120Z.

Every owner of an affected appliance will receive a free replacement of the gas connector by an authorized service technician. The replacement is carried out at the owner’s home, resolves the issue completely, is free of charge and does not require any additional expense or effort on the part of the customer.

BSH asks customers who have already checked their appliance details, and whose gas connector did not previously need to be replaced, to check their appliance once again.

“Our customer’s safety is our first priority. We would like to urge all of our customers affected by the repair action campaign to contact our call centre immediately for assistance in assessing the product and carry out repairs,” says Enrico Hoffmann, Managing Director of BSH South Africa.

Customers can use a dedicated website to log details of their appliance and receive service assistance. Customers can also call the toll free service hotline at 0800 999 332 to speak to a customer service agent that will further assist.

BSH has been in contact with customers and distributors that are listed on their database in order to proactively address any issues. All customer data is treated with confidentiality and the purpose is to promptly and effectively make assessments and repairs.

As a precaution, owners of an appliance affected by the repair action campaign are advised to turn off the gas supply of the appliance immediately and to not use it until the fitting has been replaced. Although a potential risk of explosion only exists in extremely rare cases, BSH considers this precautionary safety measure necessary to exclude potential risk.
