                • Cleaning and care instructions for your induction cooktop.

We  recommend wiping away spills on a timely basis so that spills do not become hardened and therefore difficult to remove. Be sure to clean the glass cooktop when it is cool.  Wipe off spatters with a clean, damp sponge, cloth or paper towel. White vinegar may be used if smudges remain. View our How-to-Videos on the Bosch YouTube Channel to learn how to clean a glass cooktop and how to clean stainless steel.

Warning: Do not use any cleaning agent on the glass while the surface is hot. The resulting fumes may be hazardous to your health and result in death or injury. A blade scraper may be used while the cooktop surface is hot.

To clean the glass ceramic area of the cooktop: Clean the glass cooktop once it has cooled. Apply a small amount of glass ceramic cooktop cleaning cream to a soft, clean cloth. Wipe this on the cooktop surface (which has cooled down) and then buff with a clean, dry towel. You may use any appropriate glass ceramic cooktop cleaning cream. If using a scraper, use smooth, shallow strokes - do not stab or chip the surface.

To clean stainless steel: Wipe with the grain when cleaning stainless steel. Use a mild, non-abrasive cleaning agent or stainless steel cleaner with a soft cloth. Wipe dry to avoid water marks. Do not use cleaning materials that contain chlorine since it is corrosive to stainless steel. Warning: Some stainless steel cleaners are known to have negative effects on materials other than stainless steel. Make sure to apply stainless steel cleaner to stainless steel components only! Stainless steel conditioning cloths can be purchased in the Bosch Accessories & Parts Store (part number 00311134).

To clean hard water spots: Minerals in some water can be transferred onto the cooktop surface and cause stains. Apply undiluted white vinegar  with a soft, clean cloth. Then, recondition with glass ceramic cooktop cleaning cream as noted above.

Cleaners to always avoid: Cleaners that contain ammonia or chlorine bleach, caustic cleaners (such as Easy Off®), abrasive cleaners, dishwashing agents, metal scouring pads, scrub sponges, soap-filled scouring pads, powdery cleaners, and flammable cleaners. These products may damage, scratch, and dull your cooktop.

The following items may be removed with a scraper while the cooktop is hot

Dry sugar, sugar syrup, milk, tomato spills, melted plastic film, foil. First, remove any cooking pans and utensils and turn off the cooktop. Wearing an oven mitt, hold scraper at a 30° angle, being careful to not gouge or scratch the glass. Use smooth, shallow movements - do not chip or stab the surface. Push the loosened soil off the heated area with the scraper. After the cooktop surface has cooled, remove the loosened soil and apply glass ceramic cooktop cleaning cream as noted above.

                • Types of pots and pans to use on the induction cooktop.

The best way to know if your pot or pan is suitable for an induction cooktop is to use the “magnet test”. Your pot or pan is suitable for an induction cooktop if a magnet sticks to the bottom of it.

In general, pans made of cast iron, black metal, or iron are suitable for induction cooktops. Also, most stainless steel pans will work assuming that the sole of the pan is made out of a grade of stainless steel that is magnetic

                • Cooktop is not on.

The main switch may have been turned off. Turn the unit on.

Cooktop may not be plugged in. Check to see if it is plugged in.

Check to see if you are experiencing a power failure.

Power may not be flowing to the socket. Check if electricity is present at the outlet in question by using another small object that runs on electricity (e.g. hairdryer). If electricity is not present, consult a qualified electrician.

The fuse may have blown or the circuit breaker may be tripped. Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker.

                  Induction cooktop feels hot

The induction cooktop may get hot depending on the length of cooking time and temperature. While the induction cooktop itself does not generate heat, it does get hot from cooking pots and pans radiating heat onto the glass cooktop.

Routine maintenance for your induction cooktop.

We recommend cleaning the glass cooktop when it becomes unsightly. Be sure the glass cooktop is cool before cleaning it. Wipe away spills on a timely basis so that spills do not become hardened and therefore difficult to remove

                  Induction vs. Gas and Electric

In general, induction cooktops boil water and warm up food much faster than gas and electric cooktops.

Induction cooktops are also more energy efficient than gas and electric because the heat is distributed directly to the pot. This results in better simmering, less heat in the kitchen, and more precision when cooking.

Induction cooktops are ideal for heating up food quickly, boiling water quickly and precise cooking techniques. The AutoChef feature also adds to the cooking experience.

Advantage of owning an induction cooktop with higher wattage.

Induction cooktops with higher wattage have more power, which means that it heats pans faster.

                  Ventilation required for induction cooktops.

The ventilation required for induction cooktops is the same as that required for any other type of cooktop. In general, it is ideal to have the ventilation hood extend 3” on both sides of the cooktop for optimal performance.

Installing an oven below the induction cooktop.

Any Bosch oven can be installed below any Bosch cooktop (gas, electric, or induction*). The following standards are required for installation:

                  • Countertop height of 36”
                  • Toe kick height of 4.75” (includes base plate)

Please refer to the installation manuals for the cooktop and oven for additional information on feasibility.

(*) Only valid for 36" induction cooktop models.
