Cleaning and care instructions for your electric cooktop.
We recommend wiping away spills on a timely basis so that spills do not become hardened and difficult to remove. Please be sure the glass cooktop is cool before cleaning it. Wipe off spatters with a clean, damp sponge, cloth or paper towel. White vinegar may be used if smudges remain. View our How-to-Videos on the Bosch YouTube Channel to learn how to care for your electric cooktop and how to clean stainless steel.
Warning: Do not use any cleaning agent on the glass while the surface is hot. The resulting fumes may be hazardous to your health and result in death or injury. A blade scraper may be used while the cooktop surface is hot.
To clean the glass ceramic area of the cooktop: The cooktop should be cool before you clean it. Apply a small amount of glass ceramic cooktop cleaning cream to a soft, clean cloth. Wipe this on the cooktop surface (which has cooled down) and then buff with a clean, dry towel. You may use any appropriate glass ceramic cooktop cleaning cream. If using a scraper, use smooth, shallow strokes - do not stab or chip the surface.
To clean stainless steel: Wipe with the grain when cleaning stainless steel. Use a mild, non-abrasive cleaning agent or stainless steel cleaner with a soft cloth. Wipe dry to avoid water marks. Do not use cleaning materials that contain chlorine since it is corrosive to stainless steel. Warning: Some stainless steel cleaners are known to have negative effects on materials other than stainless steel. Make sure to apply stainless steel cleaner to stainless steel components only! Stainless steel conditioning cloths can be purchased in the Bosch Accessories & Parts Store (part number 00311134).
To clean the metallic seal and control panel on the cooktop: Use a mild cleaning agent only with a soft cloth. Do not use any harsh or abrasive cleaning agents. The scraper, lemon juice and vinegar are also not suitable for use here as they may damage the control panel.
To clean hard water spots: Minerals in some water can be transferred onto the cooktop surface and cause stains. Apply undiluted white vinegar with a soft, clean cloth. Then, recondition with glass ceramic cooktop cleaning cream as noted above.
Cleaners to always avoid: Cleaners that contain ammonia or chlorine bleach, caustic cleaners (such as Easy Off®), abrasive cleaners, dishwashing agents, metal scouring pads, scrub sponges, soap-filled scouring pads, powdery cleaners, and flammable cleaners. These products may damage, scratch, and dull your cooktop.
The following items may be removed with a scraper while the cooktop is hot
Dry sugar, sugar syrup, milk, tomato spills, melted plastic film, foil. First, remove any cooking pans and utensils and turn off the cooktop. Wearing an oven mitt, hold scraper at a 30° angle, being careful to not gouge or scratch the glass. Use smooth, shallow movements - do not chip or stab the surface. Push the loosened soil off the heated area with the scraper. After the cooktop surface has cooled, remove the loosened soil and apply glass ceramic cooktop cleaning cream as noted above.
