Rated 1 out of 5 by from I regret this purchase more than any otherI never write reviews but this purchase was a huge mistake. I regret this dishwasher every day and here is why. First of all, it doesn't clean my dishes. I am very meticulous about rinsing everything before putting anything in - but my dishes still come out looking dirty. I sometimes have to put them back through the next cycle to get anything looking remotely clean. This unit does not have a heated dry (I wish our salesperson would have told us this when we were at the store, but he did not) so everything has spots! It's embarassing when we have people over. I usually end up handwashing all of our glassware. The worst part is the smell! The whole inside stinks! It has a mold/plastic stench and it started on Day 1 and does not go away! This also makes your dishes smell and I've lost my appetite more than once because of my cultery smelling so bad. The plus to this machine is it is quiet, but that doesn't make up for everything else. I regret this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor rack designWe've had this dishwasher for four months now and I think we have gotten past the thrill of having something new and can now give a fair evaluation. Our old dishwasher finally gave up the day before Thanksgiving after thirty years of service. It was well worn and had been repaired a few times and I decided that it was now time for another. Online research showed that Bosch dishwashers were highly rated for reliability and this was our main criteria for purchasing this brand. Since we rarely used anything other than the standard wash cycle on our old machine, cycle options were not a concern. The rack design was very similar between models and we saw no great advantage one way or another between models. Our final decision on purchasing this model was based on a design that would fit with our kitchen and the sale price and rebate offer available from the local store. I picked the machine up at the store's warehouse myself. The machine was well packed and reasonably light compared to our old machine probably due to the use of plastics in the design. Unpacking was quick and easy with the one surprise of the owner's manual being very damp even though it was packaged in a sealed, plastic bag, so much so that the staples holding it together were rusting. I called Customer Service for a replacement and was offered a link to a download but requested a printed copy hoping to receive one in booklet form. I was disappointed to receive just a stack of printed pages a few days later. Installation was a breeze for this advanced do-it-yourselfer and I think most mechanically inclined purchasers could easily connect the power and water supplies and install the drain, especially in a replacement situation. The only procedure that was not as clear as it could be was the leveling adjustments. It took a little figuring to understand what the instructions were describing. After cleanup it was now time to wait a few days for a full load of dishes for the first test. The dishwasher was loaded, detergent added and the door closed. I pushed the "On" switch, selected the "Auto" cycle, and pressed "Start". The lights came on and then nothing. I checked the door and settings and then, when there was a lull in the surrounding noise, I heard the faint sound of water running. Compared to our old machine which would click and hum as it did its work, the Bosch machine was almost silent! The only clear indication that it is running is the front panel timer counting down. After almost 2-1/2 hours of silence the cycle was over and the dishes were sparkling clean. Since that first run we have done many loads of dishes, all of them equally quiet and with great results. Since we don't wash every day, we rinse our dishes before putting them in the machine. Silverware and dishes are always clean and only once was a little burnt on food left on a pot being washed as a test not cleaned. Normally I would have scraped it off but wanted to see if the food would come off in the machine. Our only dissatisfaction is with the design of the rack system. It seems that most of the positions are designed for plates, not glassware. During the course of the week we use many more glasses than plates and they do not sit in the racks without tending to fall over. Most of the upright holders are set over a single, horizontal bar instead of a flat bottomed grid. Placing a glass on the bar allows it to rock back and forth. Coffee mugs do not fit between the uprights and must be place over the uprights leaving a lot of wasted space. A rack system that was not designed for specific items would serve the user better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Quiet!I recently moved and was upset at having to leave my Bosch dishwasher behind. The dishwasher in my new house was so noisy that I only used it once or twice a month. Enough of that! I went out and got another Bosch! I have been running this on a delicate cycle since the dishes I have are older. Everything is coming out very clean even though I run it every other day. I wouldn't have another brand!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Terrible rack designThe upper rack especially is poorly designed. Glassware touches and tips over. Footed glasses cannot be loaded at the edges because the feet scrape against the sides of the dishwasher. The recommended loading pattern in the owner's manual shows a row of bowls (which do fit nicely there) with a row of cups along the left of them, but unless you are using doll dishes, nothing will fit next to the row of bowls. (My bowls are only 6 inches in diameter, and the glasses I would like to put next to them only 2-3/4 inches in diameter.) For the most part, I only have glasses on the upper rack, but it's hard to keep them from touching/falling into each other. The lower rack is somewhat better, but we would prefer the silverware holder to be in the front rather than along the side (so you can open the door a crack and place a piece of silverware in the holder without opening the door all the way and pulling out the rack). This silverware holder also is not freestanding, and is a bit difficult to clip back on the rack if you take out the holder to remove your clean silverware. The 15-year-old Bosch dishwasher that we replaced with this one had much plainer, but easier to load racks, and a freestanding silverware holder in the front.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very quiet cleans greatI bought the dishwasher last month and am super pleased. It is so very quiet I forget that it is running. It cleans everything - even baked on food. I was a little concerned with the "auto" feature, but it does a great job and all the dishes come out sparkling clean and dry.
