Design object, fresh food vault, food guide: the new A++ side-by-side combination with TFT display from Bosch
Design highlight: TFT color touch display, stainless steel look with bar handles
Energy saving performance: efficiency class A++
Convenience: food guide recommends ideal storage conditions with the touch of a button, ice water dispenser delivers drinking water, crushed ice and ice cubes on request
Munich – The household appliance manufacturer Bosch will present another innovation in its refrigerators at the IFA 2011: the side-by-side combination KAD62V78 with high-resolution TFT electronic display, ice and water dispenser, and stainless steel doors with anti-fingerprint coating. It will be available in stores starting early in 2012. The food guide accessible via the display is extremely helpful – this is a new function that informs users about storage conditions, ingredients, and the storage life of numerous products. The astonishing thing about the appliance exhibited now is, in addition to its design and equipment, its energy efficiency: thanks to the latest compressor technology and the best housing insulation, it belongs to the very good energy efficiency class A++.
Aesthetic and multi-functional
The 4.3” high-resolution full-touch color display proves to be a brilliant eye-catcher directly above the ice and water dispenser in the left door. How-ever, it is not just optically appealing, it also offers true functional added value combined with great user friendliness: as with a smart phone or tablet PC display, the functions are easy to use and can be operated securely with just a fingertip. The “Home” view shows, in addition to the date and time, the current temperature in the refrigerator and freezer areas as well as the selected mode – normal, eco or vacation setting. Central settings such as the timer function, silent mode, maximum cooling, and the rapid ice dispenser are also visible here. With the menu button, you can access the individual functions directly. In order to simplify the most important setting of all, the selection of the correct temperature, Bosch has pre-defined several ideal values: for normal operation as well as for especially energy-saving operation, the vacation setting, and maximum storage life. Regardless of this, individual values can be entered at any time, however.
Much more than a display
Who isn't familiar with the questions that arise after grocery shopping: how long will the lettuce stay fresh? Where should I best store the grapes? Under what conditions does the cheese maintain its aroma? In which zone does meat do best? – Instead of beating your head against the wall, you can get quick help: the Bosch refrigerator has stored information about 250 different products – this information can be called up via categories such as vegetables, fish, dairy products, beverages or fruit. Anyone who wants to can use the touch keyboard to call up the sought-after product directly. In every case, the result shows precisely where in the refrigerator or freezer the food in question should be stored. And how long it can stay there without losing its freshness and taste. On top of this, the appliance delivers nutritional details: on request, the display even informs you about the calories, carbohydrate, fat, and protein percentages of foods – and even about the vitamin and mineral content. This way, the refrigerator becomes a virtual food guide that has yet another advantage: you never have to look for it.
